This could be the issue in your case, it thinks the VST file is missing and just fails.

There is even a "repair" option that always just fails in this case too. So if you happen to have moved the dll file for the kontakty player, you can check the path where it is set to install, just move it back, do the update then once it's done move it where you like again.
